Stay Connected in the New 2016 GMC Sierra

Upcoming 2016 Buick & 2016 GMC Models

They say April showers bring May flowers. Well, things certainly turned rosy for Buick, GMC and your hometown dealer, Ferguson Buick GMC, in the month of May. May was GMC's best month of the year with a 12% increase in truck, SUV and van sales. Buick had their best May in ten years; fueled by an increase in their Crossover SUV sales (Buick Enclave & Buick Encore). Buick's crossover SUV sales rose 22% in May. Ferguson Buick GMC Donates Over $5,000 to Coweta High School

Follow up post, "Ferguson Buick GMC Partnering with Coweta High School for Buick Drive For Your Students."

In an effort to help schools offset deeper spending cuts, Buick has launched their "Drive For Your Students" campaign; partnering local high schools with local Buick/GMC dealers.

Ferguson Buick GMC was blessed to have the opportunity of supporting one local high school in our community; Coweta High School.

On November 22, 2014, Ferguson Buick GMC brought several new Buick and new GMC vehicles to the Coweta High School parking lot, and held the Ferguson Buick GMC Drive For Your Students fund raiser.

The fund raiser worked like this - for each test drive in a new Buick or new GMC, Ferguson would donate $20 to Coweta High School and Coweta’s Project Graduation.

Our goal was to donate $10,000. We needed 500 Cowetians to show up and take a test drive to make that happen. Unfortunately we did not reach our goal, but we did (despite the rain, cold, and cloudy day) have enough people show up to raise over $5,000!

We had 271 people who came and test drove, raising $5,420!

Updated 2015 GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali

The all-new 2015 Yukon and the entire Yukon lineup, including the Yukon, Yukon XL and the Yukon Denali, is one of the industry’s most popular full-size SUV lineups. The 2015 GMC Yukon offers greater performance, new fold-flat rear seats and a quieter interior. They’re also better-connected, with next-generation IntelliLink. These state-of-the-art features have resonated with our GMC customers. It's hard to image GMC packing any more innovative technologies and performance engineering onto the 2015 Yukon.....but pack more they did indeed. Nearly half way through the first year of production GMC updated the 2015 Yukon and 2015 Yukon Denali. GMC has called the new updated 2015 Yukons, the 2015 interim GMC Yukon.

One updated enhancement you'll find on the new interim Yukon include a new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission, designed to be more fuel-efficient. The new transmission is fitted to the new Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali interim models. EPA highway mileage estimates for two-wheel drive Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models increase to 22 mpg with the eight-speed automatic, while the EPA city mileage estimate for the four-wheel drive Yukon Denali model rises to 15 mpg.

Compared to the Yukon Denali’s previous six-speed transmission, the new 8L90 transmission offers smaller steps between gears, allowing the engine to efficiently leverage its peak power bands. The wider gearing spread also allows the use of a lower 3.23:1 rear axle ratio, which reduces engine speeds and fuel consumption, especially during highway cruising.

Comfort and capability are not compromised for fuel economy. Not only is the 8L90 transmission capable of handling more torque than the six-speed transmission it replaces, but its shift controls and solenoids are more responsive and provide quicker shift times. A new torque converter also delivers smoother performance at low speeds, especially when carrying heavy loads or pulling trailers. Tow ratings – up to 8,400 pounds for the Yukon Denali and 8,100 pounds for the Yukon XL Denali – are unaffected by the addition of the eight-speed transmission.

Performance enhancements are not the only upgrades you'll find on the new 2015 interim Yukons, there's also some really cool innovative technology features GMC snuck onto the SUV. The 2015 interim GMC Yukon features a wireless charging surface for WPC (Qi) or PMA (Powermat) compatible mobile devices integrated into the design of the center console lid. Simply rest your smartphone on the powermat located in the middle of the center console, and your phone will automatically begin to charge. You'll never have to go through the hassles of a wired phone charger ever again!

2015 GMC Canyon Brings Patent-Pending Child Safety Restraint Feature

We can't stop talking about the all-new 2015 GMC Canyon. But, can you blame us? As we learn more details and features the new mid-size truck has to offer, the more excited we are to be able to offer the new truck to our Oklahoma customers. Last month we covered how AutoTrader.com named the '15 Canyon a Top 10 Must Drive Truck for 2014. We now have news that's sure to make our family conscience shoppers happy. The 2015 GMC Canyon will feature segment safety firsts including a patent-pending child safety feature.

Child restraint manufacturers recommend vehicles have at least 80% of the base of a child seat to fit on the seat cushion. This can be a problem for many extended-cab pickups like the GMC Canyon. Most extended cab pickups have jump seats with shorter bottom cushions. The engineers at GMC have designed a clever solution for the 2015 Canyon extended cab to help keep kids in child restraints safe in a collision.

Using the rear jump seat headrest on the passenger side of the extended-cab Canyon, the jump seat cushion can be extended by removing the head rest and inserting it horizontally into the seat base - see video below. This helps the extended-cab Canyon satisfy the seat base recommendation of most child restraint manufacturers.

In addition to this patent-pending design, the all-new Canyon will be the first midsize truck to offer Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning technology as part of the available Driver Alert Package.

The release of the new Canyon comes at a time when GM has placed more emphasis on customer demand. The company recently released outlines in an effort to "Transform Transportation."
