GMC's team of engineers understand that truck owners need to stay connected, even while on the go. So, GMC took popular smartphone features and gave 2016 Sierra owners access to them by putting them on the truck’s display in a smart, user-friendly configuration.
Apple CarPlay gives 2016 Sierra drivers the ability to send and receive messages, make calls, and listen to music right from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri. Apple CarPlay-supported apps include Music and third-party audio apps, Maps, Messages, and Phone apps.
For truck owners who have an Android device instead of Apple; don’t fret, GMC has you covered as well, with Android Auto. Android Auto is built around Google Maps, Google Now and the ability to talk to Google, as well as a growing audio and messaging app ecosystem that includes podcast players, Spotify, Google Play Music, Skype and WhatsApp. At the beginning of production only some of the 2016 Sierra models will be equipped with Android Auto; however, all 2016 GMC Sierra’s will be equipped with the innovation technology later on.
Did we mention all this technology is user-friendly? Using either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto inside the 2016 Sierra will be a piece of cake - even for those of us who are slightly less technology savvy. Simply look for a “Projection” icon on the IntelliLink screen to tell you if a phone is not connected, and watch for it to change. Once the icon changes your smartphone device is connected; ready for your enjoyment.
Apart from its technology advancements, the 2016 GMC Sierra is a much bolder and more refined truck. The new 2016 GMC Sierra will be available in the fourth quarter of this year. For more details about the 2016 GMC Sierra visit www.fergusonbuickgmc.com/2016_GMC_Sierra
