Ferguson Buick GMC Determined to Help Our Country's Veterans

There are hundreds of catastrophically disabled service members who need specially designed homes to live normal lives. Building For America’s Bravest has set out to build specially designed homes for our country’s disabled veterans. The waiting list is long - and for every home they build, another three veterans join the list. When the call came, these brave service members went. They made extraordinary sacrifices in our place. Please help give them a home they can come home to. Your donation will make a real difference in a service hero’s life. 

Ferguson Buick GMC in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma is proud to participate in the GMC #enlistme program. For this campaign, GMC is partnering with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and their Building For America's Bravest program to help bring smart homes to catastrophically injured Veterans, so that these courageous men and women can live better and more independent lives. These homes use adaptive technology, and are energy efficient, accessible and automated. So far, 44 such homes have been built or are in the process of being built. The foundation is aiming to build a minimum of 200 smart homes, and many Veterans are currently on the wait list for them. See Cpl. Todd Nicely's story below.

Ferguson Buick GMC Donates $6,000 to Turn Tulsa Pink

Our Ferguson team is more than just a team; we're a family. And, like in any family, when one family member celebrates the whole family celebrates. When one family member is down, we're all down.

Recently we have had several remarkable women on our team diagnosed with cancer. It struck a chord in all our hearts watching all they've had to endure. The entire Ferguson family was hurting. We knew we had a moral obligation to do something to help those in our community who are fighting the fight. That's why we partnered with Turn Tulsa Pink to hold our Turn Ferguson Pink Fundraiser Event.

Turn Tulsa Pink is a non profit organization

who raises awareness and honors ALL people within the Tulsa community who have been affected by Cancer of ANY type! Turn Tulsa Pink's mission statement reads, "to bring to light the local grassroots charities that provide services and support to all people affected by cancer in our communities. We Believe Charity Begins at Home." Turn Tulsa Pink started as a dream from its founder, Judi Grove, in February 2011.

During the Turn Ferguson Pink Fundraiser Event, Ferguson Buick GMC offered to give Turn Tulsa Pink (and their affiliate, Turn Broken Arrow Pink) $200 for every new Buick and new GMC sold between February 14th and February 28th. We also held a kickoff event on Valentine’s Day to get the fundraiser started! The kickoff event included: a Turn Tulsa Pink booth, Fergie Bear and his mascot friends, pink police and firefighter units, free refreshments, and free snow cones! Turn Tulsa Pink came out to our Buick GMC dealership and opened a merchandise booth selling t-shirts, bracelets, and other Turn Tulsa Pink gear. The kickoff event was a huge success!

The success of the kickoff event would light the way for the success of the duration of the Turn Ferguson Pink fundraiser event. We're pleased to announce, with the help of our new Buick and new GMC customers, we raised $6,000 for Turn Tulsa Pink and Turn Broken Arrow Pink!

“We were delighted and overjoyed to aid this great organization,” said Clint Walden, Fundraising chair for the event. Walden developed and coordinates the award winning Fergie Bear Program for the dealership. Fergie Bear is involved in many of the dealership’s charitable activities. Walden continued, “This fundraising project was Beary important and personal to us. We have had some of our stellar employees stricken with cancer.”

A formal check presentation will took place Saturday, March 14th at 9:30 am at the dealership. Judi Grove, founder of Turn Tulsa Pink and Meshell Rice from Turn BA Pink were on hand to receive the check.

Ferguson Buick GMC Donates Over $5,000 to Coweta High School

In an effort to help schools offset deeper spending cuts, Buick has launched their "Drive For Your Students" campaign; partnering local high schools with local Buick/GMC dealers.

Ferguson Buick GMC was blessed to have the opportunity of supporting one local high school in our community; Coweta High School.

On November 22, 2014, Ferguson Buick GMC brought several new Buick and new GMC vehicles to the Coweta High School parking lot, and held the Ferguson Buick GMC Drive For Your Students fund raiser.

The fund raiser worked like this - for each test drive in a new Buick or new GMC, Ferguson would donate $20 to Coweta High School and Coweta’s Project Graduation.

Our goal was to donate $10,000. We needed 500 Cowetians to show up and take a test drive to make that happen. Unfortunately we did not reach our goal, but we did (despite the rain, cold, and cloudy day) have enough people show up to raise over $5,000!

We had 271 people who came and test drove, raising $5,420!

Ferguson Superstore Donates $20,000 To The Eastern Oklahoma American Red Cross

It has been nearly a month since Moore, Oklahoma was ripped apart by a F5 tornado. The tornado traveled 17 miles across the American heartland, leaving a trail of destruction, and so many lives forever changed. The tornado formed just west of Newcastle, OK, near the Timberlake Reservoir as a F0 at around 3:00pm, it quickly grew into a deadly F5 tornado with wind speeds up to 210mph. 

Once the damage was assessed, the tornado had claimed 23 peoples lives; including 7 children at Plaza Towers Elementary School, injured nearly 400 others, left thousand homeless, and caused an estimated $2 billion in damages. 

After watching the news unfold, and seeing the pictures of shell-shocked residents, Ferguson Superstore wanted to help the victims and our fellow Oklahomans. Our store was founded by Tommy Ferguson, in Norman, Oklahoma in 1974 not far from where the tornado hit. We had to do something to help our neighbors in Moore. 

We decided to donate $250 to the American Red Cross for every car we sold, through the end of May. We reached a total donation of $20,000 to give to the American Red Cross, in an effort to continue to support the victims of the severe storms that have ravaged Oklahoma over the past month. We could not have given this donation, without the generosity provided by our customers. We had people who matched our donation with their own. We are lucky to have such giving customers. Thank you to all who helped us reach $20,000. We are proud to be in Oklahoma, and to be in such a strong community. The donation was given to the Eastern Oklahoma Red Cross - the American Red Cross branch here in Tulsa, Ok. 

The Eastern Oklahoma Red Cross is responsible for the safety and preparedness of 1.5 million people spread across 26,000 square miles in eastern Oklahoma. They reach 516 people every day in the 31 counties they serve. Severe weather has continued to hit Green Country after the Moore tornado. Our home town of Broken Arrow, was hit on May 31st and the Red Cross was right there to help. 

The American Red Cross has done a tremendous job helping disaster victims. They were on the ground as soon as the tornado lifted. The Red Cross had 25 emergency response vehicles positioned to move at first light the Tuesday after the storm. The Red Cross is still helping victims of the deadly Joplin, Missouri tornado that hit Joplin on May 22, 2011. There office is located 10151 E. 11th Street Tulsa, OK.
