The 2015 GMC Canyon Gathers More Awards

GMC's new 2015 Canyon has elevated the midsize truck segment. The 2015 GMC Canyon is the segment’s first premium midsize truck, delivering class-leading capabilities with GMC's signature precision statement to detail. It’s an efficiently sized, maneuverable truck for our Oklahoma customers who want the trailering versatility and the cargo-hauling of a truck without the size of a full-size pickup.

We here at Ferguson Buick GMC, serving the greater Tulsa area, already know what a superb truck the 2015 GMC Canyon is. But as a new GMC dealership, we also know that the general public may be wary of our bias. That's why we're happy to say we're not alone in recommending it. The 2015 Canyon has recently rolled home with a string of coveted awards.

2015 GMC Canyon Earns Ward’s 10 Best Interiors Trophy

For its well-appointed interior, the 2015 GMC Canyon midsized truck was named a Ward's 10 Best Interiors for 2015. The award is based on Wards Auto, automotive trade publication, evaluation of 42 new U.S.-market vehicle interiors and their rankings of elements such as comfort, materials, value, design harmony, fit-and-finish, and ergonomics.

Details such as authentic aluminum trim, soft-tough materials, high-quality stitching, and 4G LTE capabilities impressed the automotive publication. Other features found on the 2015 GMC Canyon, such as multiple USB ports and seats designed for long-haul comfort are thoughtful elements that are essential for active-lifestyle customers. Whether drivers are navigating through Tulsa city traffic or enjoying adventures in Oklahoma's back country, the interior was carefully considered to suit your needs.

GMC Canyon Wins Cars.com Midsize Pickup Challenge

The all-new GMC Canyon was the top pick by the editors of Cars.com in a midsize pickup comparison test. The '15 Canyon, along with other mid-sized trucks, were tested for a range of capabilities, including value, ride quality, off-road capability, seating and ergonomics, tech and entertainment, and performance. Additionally, a pickup truck shopper unaffiliated with Cars.com tested each of the trucks for overall ride, comfort and features.

The Canyon’s premium design, materials, and quiet cabin make it a maneuverable solution for customers who want the capability of a pickup with the modern amenities customers expect from GMC. Canyon’s cabin is comfortable, exceptionally quiet, precisely crafted, and designed to the highest standards. One look inside and it’s clear why this truck is the only premium midsize pickup worthy of all these awards and accolades.

GMC Canyon is Autoweek’s Best of the Best Truck

In addition to winning Cars.com Midsize pickup challenge and being named a Ward's 10 Best Interiors for 2015, the all-new Canyon also claimed Autoweek's Best of the Best Truck Autoweek evaluates eight vehicle finalists for top value, build quality, design, and performance to distinguish which truck is the "Best of the Best."

“Of the hundreds of vehicles Autoweek tests each year, only a relative few truly stand out from the rest,” said Autoweek editor Wes Raynal.

Ferguson Buick GMC has the All New 2015 GMC Canyon

We first broke the news to our readers back in October 2013 that GMC was bringing back their mid-sized pickup, the GMC Canyon. We told you we'd be getting the new Canyon this fall. As promised, we now have the 2015 GMC Canyon in stock at Ferguson Buick GMC.

The 2015 GMC Canyon has arrived at our dealership just outside Tulsa, in Broken Arrow. It's here at last, and we've finally had the opportunity of taking the new mid-sized truck out for a test drive. We absolutely love it so far. As we mentioned before, GMC brings back the Canyon to complete GMC’s three-truck family. The truck has already garnered a lot of attention earning a spot on AutoTrader's Top 10 Must Drive Trucks for 2014.

Check out our walk-around video of the new GMC Canyon right here in Oklahoma. Ferguson's own Buick GMC consultant, Michael McCarty, brings the Canyon to you in full HD video.

The 2015 GMC Canyon offers segment best available horsepower and highest maximum trailering rating. The Canyon completely redefines the mid-sized pickup segment. We're honored to bring this magnificent machine to Oklahoma and Green Country.

2015 Canyon Broken Arrow, Tulsa Debut Inching Closer

We love our trucks here in Oklahoma, there’s no doubt about that. In fact, our Oklahoma customers at Ferguson Buick GMC purchased the GMC Sierra pick-up more than any other GMC model last year in 2013. Yes, the Sierra has been a hot seller here in Tulsa & Broken Arrow, but there’s a new truck coming to town, the 2015 GMC Canyon.

There’s been a lot of anticipating for the release of the 2015 GMC Canyon, GMC’s all-new mid-sized pickup. We’ve already got several eager buyers lining up to drove off in their new Canyon. And, everyone wants to know – when is Ferguson Buick GMC going to get GMC’s new truck? Well, we can tell you it is coming very, very soon. We will be the first to introduce the Canyon to Broken Arrow and the Tulsa metro.

Now, that might not be quite what you want to hear, if you’re aching for an exact release date. However, we do have more information about the ’15 Canyon to divulge – pricing. GMC has recently released pricing on the 2015 GMC Canyon. GMC’s set the MSRP at $21,880. When we get our hands on the ’15 Canyon, you can expect to find the price somewhere in the same ballpark. We do price our vehicles better than any of the competition at Ferguson Buick GMC, however.

The 2015 GMC Canyon is packed with capability and comfort. As we’ve mentioned on our GM blog, the ’15 Canyon is the little brother of the 1500 Sierra full-size pickup. Yet the smaller size does not sacrifice functionality or capability. Maneuverability is a top reason for choosing a midsize pickup. The 2015 GMC Canyon delivers the right size vehicle for consumers who are looking for a more agile pickup.

“We engineered the 2015 GMC Canyon to be very capable and functional for mid-size pick up owners,” said Anita Burke, vehicle chief engineer for Canyon. “We know customers have varied needs for a pickup in this segment, using their vehicle to commute to work during the week, transport children to school and other activities. But on the weekend, they have a very different set of needs that match their active lifestyles. The 2015 Canyon delivers on all these needs.”

The all-new Canyon provides a one-two punch that customers tell us they’ve been waiting for. Additionally, every 2015 Canyon will come with GMC's Pro Grade Protection, which, in addition to a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, includes two years or 24,000 miles – whichever comes first – of standard scheduled maintenance.

We can't wait for the 2015 Canyon to join the new GMC lineup later this year. Until then, please visit Ferguson Buick GMC at our Broken Arrow, OK dealership to check out a new GMC model today!

2015 GMC Canyon Brings Patent-Pending Child Safety Restraint Feature

We can't stop talking about the all-new 2015 GMC Canyon. But, can you blame us? As we learn more details and features the new mid-size truck has to offer, the more excited we are to be able to offer the new truck to our Oklahoma customers. Last month we covered how AutoTrader.com named the '15 Canyon a Top 10 Must Drive Truck for 2014. We now have news that's sure to make our family conscience shoppers happy. The 2015 GMC Canyon will feature segment safety firsts including a patent-pending child safety feature.

Child restraint manufacturers recommend vehicles have at least 80% of the base of a child seat to fit on the seat cushion. This can be a problem for many extended-cab pickups like the GMC Canyon. Most extended cab pickups have jump seats with shorter bottom cushions. The engineers at GMC have designed a clever solution for the 2015 Canyon extended cab to help keep kids in child restraints safe in a collision.

Using the rear jump seat headrest on the passenger side of the extended-cab Canyon, the jump seat cushion can be extended by removing the head rest and inserting it horizontally into the seat base - see video below. This helps the extended-cab Canyon satisfy the seat base recommendation of most child restraint manufacturers.

In addition to this patent-pending design, the all-new Canyon will be the first midsize truck to offer Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning technology as part of the available Driver Alert Package.

The release of the new Canyon comes at a time when GM has placed more emphasis on customer demand. The company recently released outlines in an effort to "Transform Transportation."

Mike Robinson, vice president, GM Sustainability and Global Regulatory Affairs. “We are reimagining transportation using a long-term, customer-centric approach.”

CEO Mary Barra. “People care about more than the cars. They care how we build them, and how we engage with the world around us."

With segment first safety features, including the new backseat child restraint support, GMC is laying the building blocks to transform transportation, in true professional grade style. The family-friendly 2015 GMC Canyon also offers segment best horsepower, segment best payload, and segment best maximum trailering rating.

The 2015 GMC Canyon is expected to arrive at our Broken Arrow dealership this fall.

“It’s an elegant solution that makes efficient use of the limited space in the rear seat in this type of vehicle, by allowing us to adapt the seat cushion length for child restraint installation,” said Eduardo Bugelli, safety performance team lead. “The additional seat cushion length provides more support to the child restraint, which helps to reduce the rotation and the risk of injury in a crash.”

2015 GMC Canyon -- Brian Moody from AutoTrader.com takes a look at the 2015 GMC Canyon during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Last January, we were excited to announce, "GMC Reveals the All-New 2015 GMC Canyon." For our Green Country readers, we have more exciting news to announce. The 2015 GMC Canyon is coming to Tusa! The 2015 GMC Canyon offers the segment's best horsepower (an estimated 193 horsepower from a standard 2.5L I-4 and 302 horsepower from an available 3.6L V-6), the segment’s best payload (of at least 1,450 pounds), the segment’s best maximum trailering rating (of at least 6,700 pounds), and even greater capability with a powerful and efficient Duramax 2.8L turbodiesel engine coming in 2016 model year.

Ferguson Buick GMC is offering a "Buy One Get One Free Coupon" to the Tulsa Auto Show, at our Buick GMC dealership in Broken Arrow. Give us a call at 918-258-1800 for more info.

Revealing of the mid-sized 2015 GMC Canyon Soon Expected

If you follow GMC on their Facebook page, then you might have caught just the second glimpse of the new 2015 GMC Canyon to be revealed. Although, the latest photo released by GMC does not give us much of an insight into the new Canyon design. In this latest teaser photo, all that’s depicted is a faint glimpse of the front fascia, and the new Canyon’s headlights shining through the darkness; just waiting for the full unveiling.

2015 GMC Canyon

GMC is expected to reveal the new truck next week, January 14th, at the Detroit Auto Show. All of us at Ferguson Buick GMC are very excited for the unveiling.

The mid-sized Canyon will likely borrow some design cues from the 2014 GMC Sierra (that’s a good thing!) and the 2015 Chevy Colorado. The 2014 Sierra has quickly climbed to become a respected leader for truck owners. Although we haven’t seen the entire 2015 Canyon, based off the success of the 2014 GMC Sierra, we know for our Oklahoman customers who find the full-sized pickups a tad bulky, the new Canyon will be a perfect fit.

GMC trucks deliver the efficiency, capability, power and performance that truly earns the name Professional Grade.

The 2015 GMC Canyon might also take some cues from GMC’s sister company, Chevrolet; who released their mid-sized pickup, the 2015 Chevy Colorado, earlier this year. The new Colorado has two engine options: 2.5-liter four with 193 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque or a 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 with 302 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. There’s also talk of a possible diesel engine for the 2015 GMC Canyon mid-sized truck. Although, the Canyon will not be the same truck, GM president Mark Reuss has said, “there will be more differentiations between the 2015 Colorado and the 2014 Canyon.” What differentiations exactly? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s the first glimpse of the 2015 GMC Canyon earlier released, which gives us a slightly better look at the new design. The Canyon can be seen on the right, next to the Chevy Colorado on the left.

2015 GMC Canyon and 2015 Chevy Colorado

Follow our blog, and we will let you know all the details about the 2015 GMC Canyon, shortly after the highly anticipated revealing. Stay tuned!

In the meantime you can browse your 2013 and 2014 GMC trucks in stock, or schedule a service appointment for your vehicle at FergusonBuickGMC/service.
