GMC Reveals the All-New 2015 GMC Canyon

GMC has finally revealed the 2015 GMC Canyon!

Although, the 2014 Detroit Auto Show official kicked off today, GMC started things off early, revealing their mid-sized pick-up the night before. We mentioned we were anticipating the release of the GMC mid-sized truck in our Ferguson Buick GMC blog last week, and we welcome the early surprise release of the new Canyon; the 2015 Canyon appears to be one magnificent truck.

The exterior of the newest truck in the GMC family did, as expected, receive several design cues from the 2014 GMC Sierra. From the sculpted flowing lines and curved side panels, to the integrated rear bumper steps, the Canyon has a lot to thank from it's larger brother.

The Canyon also shares similarities between Chevrolet's newest mid-sized truck, the Chevy Colorado. The Canyon is powered by the same engine has the Colorado. The base 2015 Canyon has a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Customers can trade up to the larger 3.6-liter V6 with 302 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. A 2.8L Duramax Turbo Diesel engine is soon expected, as well.

“The all-new 2015 Canyon completes GMC’s three-truck family, which started with the redesigned 2014 Sierra 1500 and 2015 Sierra HD,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. “It rounds out a lineup that offers the broadest range of capabilities in the industry, giving truck customers more choices to find the vehicle that meets their professional, personal and lifestyle needs.

“Not everyone needs full-size capability, but they still deserve strength and true-truck attributes that come in larger models. The Canyon will offer all the capability with confidence – and GMC’s signature refinement that complements active lifestyles,” said DiSalle. “It also delivers the technology customers want with more standard features.”

GMC will begin production of the all-new 2015 GMC Canyon in the fall of 2014. The new mid-sized truck will be assembled not far from Oklahoma, at GM's Wentzville plant in Missouri.
