GM Brands Rank in Three of the Top Five Spots for Customer Safisfaction According to a New J.D. Power Customer Service Index


J.D. Power and Associates released their annually Power Customer Satisfaction Index. GM brands ranked in three of the top five spots, with GMC ranking in first among mass market brands.

J.D. Power and Associates is a global marketing information services company. The company been studying customer satisfaction in the auto industry in 1981, when the launched their first U.S. Automotive Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Study. The company's quality and satisfaction measurements are based on responses from millions of consumers annually.

The highest possible score on the Power Customer Satisfaction Index is 1,000. GMC took away first place this year with a score of 819. Buick came in third place with a score of 809, trailing a point behind Mini. Chevrolet followed in fourth place with a score of 806. GMC, Buick and Chevrolet also placed in the top five in 2012.

GMC received a 5 in Power Circle Ratings, which is the top ranking and categorized as Among the Best. "GMC did extremely well on service quality. Also service initiation, which includes things like being able to get an appointment on the day I want," Chris Sutton, senior director at J.D. Power and Associates.

Dealerships also ranked higher in customer satisfaction compared to independent service stations. Customer overall satisfaction average was 806 for maintenance work brought into dealerships vs 754 satisfaction average for maintenance work brought into independent service stations.
