GM Comes Out on Top in New Dependable Study

Over a third of J.D. Power and Associates latest 2014 Vehicle Dependability Study award winning vehicles were GM vehicles.

To determine dependability, J.D. Power studied 2011 model year vehicles (or 3 year old vehicles) and measured problems reported by their original owners, for one year. According to J.D. Power, "The Vehicle Dependability Study is used extensively by vehicle manufacturers worldwide to help design and build better vehicles, which typically translates to higher resale values and higher customer loyalty." GM winners of the 2014 Vehicle Dependability Study include:
2011 Chevrolet Volt - Compact Car winner
2011 GMC Yukon - Large CUV winner
2011 Buick Lucerne - Large Car winner
2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD - Large Heavy-Duty Pickup winner
2011 GMC Sierra 1500 - Large Light Duty Pickup winner
2011 Cadillac CUV - Large Premium CUV winner
2011 Cadillac DTS - Large Premium Car winner
2011 Chevrolet Camaro - Midsize Sporty Car winner

The Sierra HD also achieved the highest score in its segment in the 2013 J.D. Power dependability study, giving it the highest ranking for the second consecutive year.

“The momentum continues at GMC with this recognition,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick and GMC marketing. “Sierra, our highest-volume vehicle, now has its entire line of trucks ranked as the most dependable. DiSalle went on to say, “Our all-new 2015 Sierra HD and 2015 Yukon full-size SUV have begun hitting dealerships, and we look to build that momentum in 2015.” [2]
